Sparsh  

The Social responsibility Committee surely does what its motto is Touching Lives... The committee strives to bring in as miniscule a change as it can to the society from which we have gained a lot. The committee has a focus on transforming each into a good social citizen and to provide a platform for the socially aware.

The activities conducted under ‘Sparsh’ include

- Valuing our Environment and provide steps to preserve nature.
- Spreading Education to the underprivileged children and adults.
- Visiting Old age homes and Orphanages and spreading smiles on their faces and make them feel wanted
- Organizing Blood Donation Camps
- Conducting Cleanliness drives and making the society aware of the benefits of cleanliness
- Instilling Traffic Sense in the youth and adults and thereby saving some lives.

Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was celebrated in the Institute on 8th March 2011 with great enthusiasm. Various events were untaken during the day. The events included Declamation contest, Collage Making and Extempore

The topics were based on women and her importance as business women, social icons, scientists amongst others.

The winners of the competition were:

- Collage Making (Group Wise):
- 1st : Akhil, Mayank, Arvind
- 2nd : Heena, Simranpreet, Sugandhi
- 3rd : Parul, Avtar

Visit to Mother Teressa Foundation, Chandigarh Sector 23

 

An initiative was taken by Sparsh Committee with a thought of inculcating the feeling of responsiveness and belongingness. Students were very enthusiastic for this event. They themselves collected the funds and some eatables. They enjoyed a lot in the Mother Teressa Foundation.

 

"Accidents Brings Tears, Safety Brings Cheers" : Road Safety Week

 

23rd Road safety week was observed in the institute. A slogan writing competition was conducted on 6th january 2012 on the above given topic. Documentary movies were screened and a panel discussion was conducted. The prize distribution ceremony was conducted on the same day by Mr. J.S Bedi and Dr. V.k Jadon.  Director, GJGI, concluded the event by educating the students about the importance of wearing Helmets, driving safely and not using the mobile phones while driving.

 

An Effort to encourage Dropout to Study

Sparsh Club Members first did the research work at ShambhuKalan Village to know the dropouts from schools in previous two years, then the data related to these students was collected from Government school of the same village. The members went to the homes of these students and talked to them and their parents. Regular visits were made to their places to communicate the importance of education and encourage them to join back their studies. One student was also provided Bi-Cycle by Gian Jyoti group of institutions as she needed it. As a result, Three girls students went back to schools and started the studies with enthusiasm in April 12
